About the doctor

Dr. Desai earned his MBBS from B J Medical College, Ahmedabad in 1987, receiving three gold medals for academic excellence. He subsequently obtained his MD in Internal Medicine from the same institution with gold medal honors. He relocated to Mumbai and completed his DNB in Neurology from Jaslok Hospital in 1995.

Following this, he spent three years as Senior Registrar at The Royal London Hospital in London working under Professor Michael Swash, returning to India in 1999 to join Jaslok Hospital as a consultant. He completed fellowships at Cleveland Clinic (2000) and Montreal Neurological Institute (2005).

Since 1999, he has managed epilepsy clinics and presurgical evaluations for refractory epilepsy patients. He has served as DNB faculty since 2004. Since 2014, he has focused on sleep neuroscience and its relationship to neurological health, and since 2018 leads the Neurology Department at Jaslok Hospital.
