Dr Bharat Shah

Dr. Bharat Shah has over four decades of experience in nephrology and kidney transplantation. He has served as Head of the Nephrology Department at several renowned hospitals in Mumbai and is currently the Director and Head of Nephrology at Gleneagles Hospital, Mumbai.

Dr. Shah completed his MBBS and MD at KEM Hospital, Mumbai, where he also underwent specialized training in nephrology. He further honed his expertise in the USA, completing a Clinical Fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Centre and a Clinical Research Fellowship at New England Medical Center, Boston.

He has a special interest in kidney transplant, chronic kidney disease (CKD) prevention, hypertension, and diabetic kidney disease. Dr. Shah has served as President of the Indian Society of Nephrology, West Zone, and General Secretary of the Zonal Transplant Coordination Committee, Mumbai.

Apart from his clinical work, he is a founder member and managing trustee of various NGOs, has been an adviser to the Central India Kidney Foundation, and has served as Medical Adviser to the J.N. Tata Endowment and Oswal Welfare Charitable Trust.

Dr. Shah is actively involved in research, with numerous publications, book chapters, and books on kidney disease and transplantation. He continues to contribute to ongoing research projects in nephrology and transplantation.
